Trading volume is how much of an asset is traded in a market over a specific period.
Approved short definition: How much of an asset is traded over a period. Example: Trading volume can be lower outside regular exchange hours, which can affect liquidity and spreads. Do not use: Do not use “trading volume” as a quality judgement or recommendation. High or low trading volume describes market activity; it does not mean an asset is better, worse, suitable, or unsuitable for a customer.
