etoro offers trading through a mobile application (also available through
<https://www.etoro.com/en-us/)> where customers can purchase stocks, exchange-traded
funds (ETFs), cryptocurrencies, and equity options. Securities trading is offered by
etoro USA Securities Inc., member of FINRA and SIPC, a self-directed broker-dealer
that does not provide recommendations or investment advice.
Cryptocurrency trading services are offered by etoro USA LLC (“etoro USA”) or by
etoro NY LLC (“etoro NY”) for residents of New York. Both etoro USA and etoro NY
are FinCEN-registered money services businesses, with etoro USA holding licenses
under applicable state law and etoro NY holding a money transmitter license and virtual
currency license under New York law. Cryptocurrency trading services are not available
for residents of Hawaii, Nevada, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands (“Select
States”). Residents of those Select States are able to open a brokerage account with
etoro USA Securities Inc. where they can trade stocks, exchange-traded funds (ETFs),
and - if eligible - options.
You can deposit and withdraw funds with etoro USA or etoro NY through several
different methods. The settlement times for those transfers may vary. Once your cash
settles at etoro USA, it is held with different custodians based on the account type.
Regardless of the type of account you have at etoro USA, please note that Federal
Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) insurance only covers the failure of an
FDIC-insured bank and does not protect against the failure of etoro USA, etoro NY, or
any malfeasance by an etoro employee. Learn more about FDIC insurance
coverage here.
For the residents of states other than the Select States, customer cash in an etoro USA
or etoro NY account for stock, ETF, and cryptocurrency trading has been deposited in
custodial account(s) opened for the benefit of etoro USA LLC or etoro NY LLC
customers at the following FDIC-insured bank(s): Customers Bank and/or JPMorgan
Chase Bank NA. Customer cash is insured by the FDIC for up to $250,000 per
depositor (an individual etoro USA customer) against the failure of the FDIC member
bank (subject to the FDIC’s determination of eligibility). This coverage amount is
inclusive of other cash a customer may have at that bank outside of the etoro USA or
etoro NY custodial account. As noted above, FDIC insurance does not protect against
the failure of etoro USA.
Cash held in your etoro options account, and the cash held in any account for residents
of Hawaii, Nevada, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands is deposited with Apex
Clearing Corporation, our securities clearing firm. Apex sweeps available cash in that
options account to deposit accounts opened by Apex at FDIC-insured banks (current list
here). Learn more about Apex’s cash sweep program here. You can opt out of this cash
sweep program offered by Apex by contacting etoro Customer Service. In addition,
Apex and etoro USA Securities Inc. also offer a High Interest Cash Program that pays
customers interest for their cash held in their etoro Options account. Enrollment is
required and fees may apply. Learn more
