Many corporate actions will affect options such as splits, mergers or stock dividends. Usually, the symbol of the option has a number added to the end of it (for example, XYZ becomes XYZ1).
The terms of the corporate action and how the option terms change are made available by the Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) on their website.
