What do I need to start on etoro US?

To apply for an etoro investment account, you’ll need:

• To be 18 years or older (we’ll ask for proof)
• To have a valid US residence in an eligible state to open an etoro US account
• A computer and/or smartphone connected to the internet
• A valid US phone number connected to your smartphone (non-VOIP)
• A valid email address
• A valid SSN. ITIN will not be accepted
• Stocks and Options trading will only be eligible to US citizens, US permanent residents, and US VISA holders: E-1, E-2, E-3, F-1, G-4, H-1B, L-1, O-1, TN-1, TN-2. Non-US permanent residents without eligible VISAs can only trade crypto

1) Open an account

To create a new etoro investment account:

1. Go to the etoro ‘Create an account’ page here.
2. Choose a username, enter your email address, and set a password. Alternatively, you can sign up with your Apple, Facebook or Google account.
3. Check etoro’s Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, and Cookie Policy, and tick the boxes to accept them.
4. Click the ‘Create Account’ button.
5. Check your email inbox and verify your email address.

2) Verify your email address

If you skipped the email verification step immediately after creating your account, you’ll need to verify your email address to help keep your account secure.

1. Go to Settings here, or enter your etoro account and click on Settings, then Account.
2. Under Credentials, click on the ‘Verify’ button next to your email address.
3. Check your email inbox. You will see an email from no-reply@connect.etoro.com.
4. Click the ‘Verify now’ button.
5. You will be redirected to the etoro platform and see a confirmation message.

3) Add your personal information and your investment experience

If you skipped this step after creating your account, you’ll need to add your personal information to customize your account to your level of investment skills.

1. Click on the ‘Complete Profile’ button.
2. Read the message that pop-ups and click ‘Continue’.
3. Fill out your basic personal information; this needs to match your Proof of Identity.
4. Click on the arrow to continue.
5. Enter your address, which needs to match your Proof of Address.
6. Enter your place of birth and country of citizenship.
7. Enter your Social Security Number
8. If the country of citizenship you selected is not ‘US,’ you will be asked to select if you are
9. US Permanent Resident OR
10. Eligible VISA types: E-1, E-2, E-3, F-1, G-4, H-1B, L-1, O-1, TN-1, TN-2 OR.
11. If one of the VISA types is selected, you will be asked to upload a copy of your VISA for further verification
12. None of the above. If this is selected, the account will automatically be approved to trade crypto only
13. Select your answers to complete the investment knowledge assessments.
14. Accept the Terms and Conditions.

All the information is confidential and will not be visible to any other etoro investors. You can modify your answers at any time.

4) Verify your phone number

Phone verification is part of the mandatory account verification process at etoro. A valid phone number is one registered with a carrier that is not a VOIP. To verify your phone number on your etoro investment account, choose one of these options:

From Home

1. Click on ‘Verify’ on the main banner on the Home Screen
2. Enter a valid mobile phone number and click ‘Send SMS’.
3. Type the SMS code you received on your phone.
4. Click ’Verify’ and check the green banner at the bottom to confirm your phone is verified.

From Settings

1. Go to Account Settings here (or enter your etoro account and click Settings ⚙️, in the left-hand menu, then click Account).
2. Under Credentials, click on the ‘Add’ button next to your phone number.
3. Enter a valid mobile phone number and click ‘Continue’.
4. Type the SMS code you received on your phone.
5. Click ’Verify’ and check the green banner at the bottom to confirm your phone is verified.

5) Additional Verification documents

If automatic verification from step 3 was not approved, you will be required to submit documents for manual verification.

This can consist of the following documents:

• Proof of identity. This is a copy of your valid passport or both sides of your government-issued identification card.

This copy must contain:

• Full Name
• Date of Birth
• Photograph
• Valid Expiry Date

You must not cover any of the above details, which must be clearly readable. All images should be high resolution.

• Proof of address

The proof of address must be issued in the name of the etoro account holder and dated within the last 3 months (with the exception of valid government-issued identification documents, such as a driving license), and must contain the following information:

• Your name
• Your current residential address
• The date of issue
• The issuing authority
• A reference to the issuing authority (logo, contact information, website etc.)

We accept documents that are issued by a bank, a utility company, a government agency, or a judicial authority. If your bill or document is available online, you may send it to us either as a PDF file, or as a screenshot.

Proof of address can be one of the following:

• Electricity, water, gas, telephone or Internet bill
• Driving license / state ID
• Bank statement / credit card statement
• Council tax or municipality bill/government tax letter

What will not be accepted?

• Pension or insurance documents
• Receipts
• Invoices for purchasing goods
• Handwritten bills

Social Security Number (SSN)

A clear, color copy of your Social Security Number card showing:

• All 4 corners
• Full name and Social Security Number

6) Make a deposit

After your account is verified, to deposit funds in your etoro account, you may choose any of the available methods of payment and follow these instructions:

1. Log in to the trading platform.
2. Click on ’Deposit Funds’.
3. Enter the amount of USD you wish to deposit.
4. Select the method of payment from the dropdown menu.
