What is a limit order?

Last updated: 12 August 2026

Not available in EN-US — showing English.

A limit order allows you to set the price or rate at which a trade will be automatically executed.

Unlike a market order that is filled at the best available market rate at the time, limit orders are only executed if the price reaches a selected target price.

The order will convert into a market order once the market rate reaches the rate you specified in your order.

The price you requested may not be traded and the order may be filled within a market range of the target rate.

Once you set the order, the cash amount allocated to the order will no longer be available for trading, unless you cancel the order.

Your limit order will remain open until it is executed or you decide to cancel it.
