Are the stocks offered by etoro real?
Last updated: 12 August 2026
Yes, etoro offers real stocks. etoro acts as an intermediary, allowing you to trade real stocks through our platform.
When you open a non-leveraged buy (long) position on a stock, you are investing in the underlying asset*, and the stock is purchased and held by etoro on your behalf. This also applies to fractional shares.
You can profit from any price appreciation over time, and if the stock pays dividends, we will distribute them to your account. We also provide voting rights for US stocks, which we hope to expand to non-US stocks in the near future.
etoro strives to provide a user-friendly and accessible way for individuals to invest in real stocks worldwide, facilitating participation in investing.
It's important to note that while etoro offers real stocks, we also offer stock trading via Contracts for Difference (CFDs). If you open a short position or use leverage, you are investing via a CFD.
The window you see before confirming a trade specifies whether you are buying the underlying asset or trading a CFD. Your portfolio and account statement also indicate which of your current or historical positions are CFDs.
* All trades on the Saudi Arabia stock exchange are executed as CFDs. For clients residing in Finland, positions on stocks traded on the Helsinki exchange are executed as CFDs due to local regulatory restrictions.
