Does etoro pay dividends?
Last updated: 12 August 2026
Yes. Dividends are paid on both manually opened positions and positions within a copy or Smart Portfolio.
If you hold a stock or ETF, your account will be credited with the amount each time it pays a dividend.
In the case of a stock dividend, it may be distributed as a new open position, subject to asset support and available market liquidity.
etoro also supports and distributes special dividends, which are one-off payments made outside a company's usual recurring dividend schedule.
What if I hold a CFD?
For CFD positions:
- if you hold a buy position, the dividend amount is credited to your ‘cash available’ balance
- if you hold a short position, the dividend amount is deducted from your ‘cash available’ balance
If you hold a position on an index, there may periodically be an ‘adjustment payment’ to compensate for any dividends paid by the underlying assets.
In the case of a stock dividend on a CFD position, any shares received are liquidated and the value is paid as cash in lieu, credited in USD to your ‘cash available’ balance.
