What do the figures in my copy mean?
Last updated: 12 August 2026
When copying a trader, you can view lots of information about your copy.
To access these details:
- Go to your Portfolio here (from the etoro app, tap Portfolio at the bottom of the screen; from the web version of etoro, click Portfolio in the sidebar).
- Select the trader whose copy you want to view.
- A breakdown of the copy opens.
There are several elements on this screen. Select a heading from the list below to learn more:
Invested
Invested
Next to the username and avatar of the investor you are copying, you will see the ‘Invested’ figure.
This shows the initial amount invested in the copy including any funds that were later added or removed.
Hover over the icon next to the ‘Invested’ amount to view a breakdown that shows:
- Initial: The amount of funds you opened the copy with.
- Money In: The amount of funds you added to the copy.
- Money Out: The amount of funds you removed from the copy.
Note: In your main portfolio (not the breakdown of the specific trader), the ‘Invested’ amount does not include any funds you removed from the copy.
For example: if you started copying Trader A with US $200, added US $400 and then removed US $300, the ‘Invested’ amount will show as US $600 (200 + 400) and not US $300 (200 + 400 - 300).
Value
Value
This figure shows the exact amount of money you would get back in your account balance if you were to stop copying the trader.
It takes into consideration:
- the initial invested amount
- funds that you added to the copy (Money In)
- funds that were removed from the copy (Money Out)
- profits and/or losses
- any fees or dividends that were credited or debited on the copied positions
The value of your copy balance is calculated as follows: INITIAL + MONEY IN/OUT + P/L - FEES = VALUE
Right under the ‘Value’ figure, you will see the profit and loss that the copy has made since it was opened (shown in dollars and percentage difference from the ‘Invested’ amount).
Asset
The details of each asset that has open positions and pending orders within the copy are shown, including:
- Units
- Average opening rate
- Invested amount
- Profit / loss (in $ or %)
- Position value
- SELL and BUY rates
Press on a column heading to sort the list of assets, from highest to lowest, or lowest to highest.
Just like in your main portfolio, you can customize the columns further. Press
at the top right of the screen and select ‘Customize’.
When you select any asset in the list, you will see the breakdown into individual trades. This provides more detailed information and available actions for that particular holding.
Total Open
Total Open
You can find this information at the bottom of the page.
There are four figures next to ‘Total Open’:
- P/L ($): The total profit/loss in dollars of trades that are open.
- P/L (%): The profit/loss that the copy has made since its opening (shown in percentage difference from the ‘Invested’ amount).
- Invested: How much is invested in trades that are open.
- Value: The overall value of the copy.
Total Closed
Total Closed
You can find this information at the bottom of the page.
There are two figures next to ‘Total Closed’:
- P/L ($): The total profit / loss in dollars of trades that are closed.
- O/N Fees: The total overnight fees generated by the copy, including fees from open and closed copied trades, payments received or deducted from dividends and other corporate actions.
Click ‘View’ for a detailed summary of closed positions and other transactions made in the copy. This page includes the fees you have paid, any dividend payments (or other corporate events) that were credited or debited on the open and closed copied positions, Money In and Money Out.
