Last updated: 12 August 2026
If you're in Australia, you can benefit from an AUD account alongside your USD-based investment account.
With an AUD account, you can:
- deposit, hold, and withdraw funds in AUD
- trade AUD-based assets without conversion fees
- save on conversion fees when making transactions
- receive AUD from others
- use your AUD balance to reach etoro Club tier thresholds
- receive interest on your AUD balance (based on your etoro Club tier and availability)
How do I open and manage my AUD account?
To open an AUD account:
- Go to Wallet in the left sidebar of the web platform or at the bottom right in the etoro mobile app.
- Choose Open AUD Account and follow the on-screen instructions.
Note: Your AUD account may take up to 10 minutes to activate after opening. If your first deposit doesn’t go through, wait a few minutes and try again.
Once your AUD account is active, you can access it from theWallet tab to manage your AUD and USD balances.
In the Wallet tab, you can:
- view your available balance in each currency
- deposit, withdraw and receive AUD*
- move funds instantly between your AUD and USD accounts
- track your transfer history
*Payments are usually instant, and sometimes can take longer. Only local NPP and BECS payments are accepted.
Can I trade from my AUD account?
From your AUD account, you have the option to directly invest in stocks, ETFs or crypto and open CFDs trades on USD-based assets and indices, commodities, and currency pairs.
To open a trade using your AUD balance:
- Choose an asset and select Trade.
- Click the dropdown next to ‘Available USD’ in the trade window.
- Choose ‘Available AUD’.
- Review the estimated costs by clicking the ‘i’ icon next to ‘Estimated costs’.
- Click Buy to open the position.
To close a trade to your AUD balance:
- Choose a position in your portfolio and select Close.
- Click ‘Credit to USD account’ in the Close Trade window.
- Select AUD account from the dropdown.
- Click Close Trade.
When trading from your AUD balance, keep in mind:
- For non-AUD assets, conversion fees apply.
- If your USD portfolio value is negative, you can’t trade with your AUD account until it’s at zero or higher.
- If an order (market, limit or out-of-hours) fails or is cancelled, the funds may return to your USD account.
- The asset price may change before execution. If it rises, you get fewer units; if it falls, the difference may be returned to your USD balance.
