How are my shares used and protected when I trade on margin?

When you trade on margin, the shares you buy are used as collateral to secure the loan provided to you.
You grant etoro a right to re-use these shares, and etoro may grant an onward right of use to a US third-party broker involved in the margin lending arrangement. While your shares are used by that broker, they are subject to US client asset, custody and insolvency protection rules. Your contractual relationship for the Stock Margin Trading service remains with etoro at all times.
Margin lending is not a deposit and is not protected by investor compensation or deposit protection schemes against investment losses.
