Trading Crypto in Germany

As of October 2025, etoro Europe Ltd is authorised to provide cryptoasset services in Germany under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation. If you’re based in Germany, etoro Europe Ltd executes your trades directly when you buy or sell crypto on the etoro platform.
As of 6 January 2026, etoro also offers custody for cryptoassets. etoro clients whose crypto positions are held by our partner Tangany can transfer custody to etoro (Europe) Ltd, enabling access to the etoro crypto wallet and more cryptoassets. Learn more
How can I trade crypto?
We support crypto trading on one etoro investment account per client in Germany.
To access crypto trading, you’ll need to accept the relevant terms and conditions and may need to complete a bank identification or video identification process for verification purposes.
If your account is eligible for CFD trading and verified for crypto trading, you may:
- invest directly in the underlying cryptoasset
- trade crypto CFDs with leverage
You can place market orders and limit orders, set a stop loss, and a take profit.
CopyTrader and Smart Portfolios
As of 2 December 2025, crypto positions opened within copies are backed by the underlying asset.
If you copied a Popular Investor or Smart Portfolio holding crypto before this date, some of the crypto positions already in your copy may still be crypto CFDs.
Can I receive staking rewards?
If your crypto is under the custody of etoro (Europe) Ltd, you automatically receive staking rewards for supported crypto positions in your investment account portfolio.
You can opt out of staking or back in anytime via Settings > Trading > Staking.
Our staking service is not available for crypto held by Tangany.
Can I transfer my crypto to other wallets?
If your cryptoassets are held by etoro (Europe) Ltd, you can transfer them to the etoro crypto wallet to store them or send them to an external wallet.
If your assets are still held by Tangany, you have the option to transfer supported cryptoassets to your self-hosted wallet by submitting a request to Tangany.
Fees
- A 1% charge applies to the purchase and sale of cryptoassets.
- Crypto CFD positions incur overnight fees.
- Fees may change in the future.
