How do I cancel a pending order?

Last updated: 12 August 2026

An order may be pending if it was placed outside of market hours or is a limit order that has not yet been triggered. Market orders cannot be cancelled during market hours.

  1. In your Portfolio, tap the three dots at the top right corner.
  2. Tap Pending orders from the list.
  3. Find the order you want to cancel and tap on it.
  4. Tap Cancel Order.

Once cancelled, the funds allocated to that order will return to your available cash balance and become available for trading again.

Why is my order still showing as pending?

Orders remain pending until they are either executed or cancelled:

  • a limit order stays pending until the market reaches your specified price — if the price is not reached, the order remains open
  • an out-of-hours order stays pending until the relevant market reopens

See more about orders here.

Why is the cancel button greyed out?

There are a few situations in which the cancel button is not available:

  • The order is being executed — once an order has been transmitted to the market and is in the 'Order Received' state, it cannot be cancelled because it is about to be filled.
  • It is a market order placed while the market is open — market orders cannot be cancelled during market hours.
  • The underlying asset is suspended or affected by a corporate action — trading is paused on the instrument and no order on that asset can be opened, closed, or cancelled until the event resolves.

What does 'Order Received' mean?

When you submit an order, the platform shows an 'Order Received' notification, followed by an 'Order Filled' notification once execution completes. For most orders, the two notifications appear in close succession.

In some cases, for example at market opening, large orders, or fast-moving markets, the fill takes longer, and the order remains visible in the Orders section until it is complete.

What should I do if my order appears stuck?

If an order has been pending for longer than expected:

  • check the Orders section in your Portfolio to confirm the current status
  • if it is a limit order, allow time for the market to reach your requested price; if it was placed outside market hours, wait for the relevant session to reopen

How do I check whether my order has opened a position?

To confirm whether an order has been filled, go to your Portfolio and check your open trades. If the position appears there, the order has been filled and there is no further action to take. If the order is still listed as pending, it is waiting for the requested price or for the market to reopen.
