Do I need to pay to open a Stellar (XLM) wallet?

To open an XLM wallet, please first transfer an XLM position from the etoro investment platform to the etoro Money crypto wallet.

There is no fee to create an XLM wallet in the etoro Money crypto wallet. However, we charge a fee to process the transfer.

Additionally, our provider requires a ‘reserve’ of 2.5 XLM for your XLM wallet to appear on the Stellar blockchain. This amount is held in the XLM wallet and cannot be sent to other addresses.

For example, if you have 20 XLM in your XLM balance, you will have only 17.5 XLM available to send to other wallets.
