How do I open a short position?

To open a short position:

1. Choose an instrument and press Trade.
2. Switch from Buy to Short at the top of the Open Trade window:

1. 1. Choose your parameters for the trade.
   2. Select Short.

Short trades appear in your portfolio like this:

It is important to note that each buy or short position is a separate transaction. In other words, opening a short position on an instrument you are already trading will not close your buy position. Each position is a unique investment.
