How does etoro crypto pricing work?
Last updated: 12 August 2026
etoro displays crypto prices based on real-time data aggregated from a wide network of leading exchanges. The sell price (bid) and buy price (ask) shown on etoro reflect the highest available bid and the lowest available ask across these sources.
No additional markup is added to these prices. Crypto trades on etoro include two pricing components:
- Market spread – The natural difference between the bid and ask prices in the underlying market.
- Opening/Closing spread – A standard 1% fee, calculated based on the position size and applied when you open and close a crypto position. For Platinum, Platinum+, and Diamond Club members, a tiered fee structure applies based on your crypto trading volume from the previous calendar month. Learn more about the tiered fee structure
Your position’s profit and loss reflect only the market performance of the cryptoasset. The fee is shown separately to provide a clear picture of both the price movement and costs.
How is the opening/closing spread deducted?
When you open a crypto position, the fee appears as Estimated Opening Costs. Once the trade is opened, this amount is deducted from your available balance.
When you close a crypto position, the fee appears as Estimated Closing Costs. When the trade is closed, this amount is deducted from the proceeds.
The paid amount will appear in your portfolio history and account statement.
Example (standard1%fee)
If you open a Bitcoin position with $1,000 and do not qualify for the Club tier fee structure:
- Opening: An amount of $10 is deducted from your available balance when the position is opened.
- Closing: When you close the position at a value of $1,000, another $10 is deducted from the proceeds.
Your final amount would be:
$1,000 (closing value) – $10 (closing fee) = $990 returned to your balance. Earlier, a $10 opening fee was deducted, making the total fee for the trade $20.
This approach keeps total fees consistent and provides clear pricing across the entire trade lifecycle.
