Moving crypto custody to etoro: what this means for you (clients in Germany)
Last updated: 12 August 2026
As of 7 January 2026, clients residing in Germany can move the custody of cryptoassets in their etoro portfolio from Tangany to etoro (Europe) Ltd, enabling them to access more cryptoassets and features available on etoro.
After the change of custody, you have access to:
- Wallet services – Once your crypto is held by etoro directly, you gain access to the etoro crypto wallet, which enables you to:
- store crypto
- send crypto to other wallets
- receive crypto from external wallets
- sell crypto for cash
- Staking rewards – Supported cryptoassets in your portfolio will be automatically* staked and you’ll earn rewards. Learn about staking risks
- More crypto to invest in – You’ll be able to invest in a wider range of cryptoassets than under Tangany.
What is required of me?
To move your crypto custody to etoro (Europe) Ltd, you must be fully verified and have accepted the latest etoro (Europe) Ltd Terms and Conditions, which include provisions under MiCA.
Once you agree to the custody change via the pop-up, it will take approximately a week for the changes to be reflected in your account.
Moving custody is completely free.
What if I don’t approve the custody change?
If you choose to keep your crypto with Tangany, you will not have access to staking or the etoro crypto wallet, but you can still:
- trade and hold crypto as before – your open crypto positions will remain under Tangany’s custody, and any new crypto trades will also be held with Tangany
- transfer your crypto to an external wallet – to do this, you must contact Tangany via withdrawal@tangany.com
*You can opt out or back in at any time via Settings > Trading > Staking.
Crypto staking can be risky due to volatility, network risks, slashing risks, inflation risks, regulatory risks, and lack of control over staked tokens, which may result in financial losses. For more information on staking please refer to www.etoro.com/crypto/staking/
Crypto investments are risky and may not suit retail investors; you could lose your entire investment. Understand the risks
