Travel Rule verification for receiving crypto

If the Travel Rule applies, the process of receiving crypto into your etoro crypto wallet includes additional verification steps.

1. Go to the Wallet tab.
2. Under Crypto Wallet, select the cryptoasset you wish to receive.
3. Tap Receive.
4. Use the QR code, or copy your wallet's address and paste it into your sending wallet.
5. Select whether the sending wallet is a self-hosted wallet or a virtual asset service provider (VASP).
6. Complete any required verification steps before the transfer is processed.

Verification for self-hosted wallets

For transfers under €1,000, you will be asked to confirm that the sending wallet belongs to you.

For transfers over €1,000, you must verify the wallet ownership.

Ethereum (ETH) and ERC-20 tokens

1. Connect your wallet, such as MetaMask.
2. Approve the connection.
3. Sign the request.

Your wallet must support wallet connection or message signing.

When using wallet connection, the wallet app must be installed on the same device as your etoro app.

Bitcoin (BTC)

1. Copy the message shown.
2. Sign the message in your wallet.
3. Paste the signature into etoro.

Your wallet must support message signing.

Verification for virtual asset service providers (VASPs)

If you are receiving crypto from a VASP, you will be asked to provide information about the sender and the sending exchange to help verify the transaction.

Verification is completed through Notabene, a secure third-party compliance provider that helps etoro verify that crypto transactions comply with the Travel Rule.

• Funds may be temporarily unavailable until the required information is provided.
• If the required information is not provided, transfers may be delayed or declined.
• Verified wallets may be temporarily saved to simplify future transfers.
