Travel Rule verification for sending crypto

If the Travel Rule applies, the process of sending crypto from your etoro crypto wallet includes additional verification steps.

etoro app

1. Go to the Wallet tab.
2. Under Crypto Wallet, select the cryptoasset you wish to send.
3. Tap Send.
4. Select the amount to send and enter the recipient's public address.
5. Select whether the recipient uses a self-hosted wallet or a virtual asset service provider (VASP).
6. Complete any required verification steps (see below).
7. Ensure that the address has been entered correctly and tap Send.
8. Enter the SMS code sent to your mobile phone and tap Verify.

1. On the Home tab, select Crypto wallet.

3. Tap Send.

Verification steps

Verification for self-hosted wallets

For transfers under €1,000, you may be asked to confirm wallet ownership.

For transfers over €1,000, you must complete Proof-of-Ownership verification.

Ethereum (ETH) and ERC-20 tokens

1. Connect the receiving wallet app.
2. Approve the connection.
3. Sign the request.

The receiving wallet app must support wallet connection or message signing, such as WalletConnect.

When using wallet connection, the wallet app must be installed on the same device as your etoro app.

Bitcoin (BTC)

1. Copy the message shown in etoro.
2. Sign the message in your wallet.
3. Paste the signature into etoro.

The receiving wallet must support message signing.

Verification for virtual asset service providers (VASPs)

If you are sending to a VASP, you will be asked to:

• select the receiving exchange
• confirm recipient details

Verification is completed through Notabene, a secure third-party compliance provider that helps etoro verify that crypto transfers comply with the Travel Rule.
