What do I need to start on etoro?

To apply for an etoro investment account, you’ll need:

• to be 18 years or older (we’ll ask for proof)
• to live in one of the countries where we offer our services (we’ll ask for proof; check our blocked countries)
• a computer and/or smartphone connected to the internet
• a valid phone number connected to your smartphone
• a valid email address

1) Open an account

To create a new etoro investment account:

1. Go to the etoro Create an account page.
2. Choose a username, enter your email address, and set a password. Alternatively, you can sign up with your Facebook or Google accounts.
3. Check etoro’s Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, and Cookie Policy, and tick the boxes to accept them.
4. Click Create Account.
5. Check your email inbox and verify your email address.

2) Verify your email address

If you skipped the email verification step immediately after creating your account, you’ll need to verify your email address to help keep your account secure.

1. Enter your etoro account and click on Settings, then Account.
2. Under Credentials, click Verify next to your email address.
3. Check your email inbox. You will see an email from no-reply@connect.etoro.com.
4. Click Verify now.
5. You will be redirected to the etoro platform and see a confirmation message.

3) Add your personal information and your investment experience

If you skipped this step after creating your account, you’ll need to add your personal information to customize your account to your level of investment skills.

1. Click Complete Profile.
2. Read the message that pop-ups and click Continue.
3. Fill out your basic personal information; this needs to match your Proof of Identity.
4. Click on the arrow to continue.
5. Enter your address, which needs to match your Proof of Address.
6. Enter your place of birth and country of citizenship. You may be asked to complete the ID number.
7. Select your answers to complete the investment knowledge assessments.
8. Accept the Terms and Conditions.

All the information is confidential and will not be visible to any other etoro investors. You can modify your answers at any time.

4) Verify your phone number

Phone verification is part of the mandatory account verification process at etoro. To verify your phone number on your etoro investment account, choose one of these options:

From Home

1. Click Verify on the main banner on the Home Screen
2. Enter a valid mobile phone number and click Send SMS.
3. Type the SMS code you received on your phone.
4. Click Verify and check the green banner at the bottom to confirm your phone is verified.

From Settings

1. Go to Account Settings (enter your etoro account and click Settings ⚙️, in the left-hand menu, then click Account).
2. Under Credentials, next to your phone number, click Add.
3. Enter a valid mobile phone number and click Continue.
4. Type the SMS code you received on your phone.
5. Click Verify and check the green banner at the bottom to confirm your phone is verified.

5) Verify your identity

To verify your account, we require proof of identity. This is a copy of your valid passport or both sides of your government-issued identification card.

This copy must contain:

• full name
• date of birth
• photograph
• valid expiry date

You must not cover any of the above details, which must be clearly readable. All images should be high resolution.

6) Verify your address

To verify your account, we require proof of address.

This should be a different document from your proof of identity. The proof of address must be issued in the name of the etoro account holder and dated within the last 3 months (with the exception of valid government-issued identification documents, such as a driving licence), and must contain the following information:

• your name
• your current residential address
• the date of issue
• the issuing authority
• a reference to the issuing authority (logo, contact information, website etc.)

We accept documents in your local language issued by banks, utility companies, government agencies, and judicial authorities.

If your bill or document is available online, you may send it to us as a PDF file or as a screenshot.

Proof of address can be one of the following:

• electricity, water, gas, or internet bill
• driving licence / residence permit / national ID / state ID
• bank statement / credit card statement
• council tax or municipality bill/government tax letter
• social insurance statement
• house rental official agreement (government-issued)

What will not be accepted?

• mobile phone bills
• pension or insurance documents
• receipts
• invoices for purchasing goods
• handwritten bills

7) Make a deposit

To deposit funds in your etoro account, you may choose any of the available methods of payment in your country and follow these instructions:

1. Log in to the trading platform.
2. Click on Deposit Funds.
3. Enter the amount and your preferred currency.
4. Select the method of payment from the dropdown menu.
