What is the Midnight (NIGHT) airdrop?

The Midnight airdrop is a token distribution initiated by the Midnight network to clients who held certain cryptoassets on self-custody wallets on a specific date in 2025.
How does the NIGHT distribution work on etoro?
On etoro, eligible clients will receive four NIGHT token distributions, one each quarter, based on the tokens etoro receives from the network.
The distribution is automatic for eligible clients. There is no need to claim or opt in.
Who is eligible to receive NIGHT?
You may be eligible for the NIGHT airdrop if the following criteria are met:
- You held one or more of the supported cryptoassets on a self-custody wallet at midnight (GMT) on 11 June 2025.
- Your account was not limited from deposits, trading or withdrawals at that time.
- Your estimated quarterly distribution amount exceeded 250 NIGHT (before fees).
Which assets grant eligibility?
- Cardano (ADA)
- Solana (SOL)
- Binance Coin (BNB)
- XRP (XRP)
- Avalanche (AVAX)
- Basic Attention Token (BAT)
While Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) were originally listed as supported assets, Midnight did not distribute tokens for those assets to etoro. As a result, NIGHT tokens will not be distributed for BTC or ETH holdings.
How is the amount of NIGHT I receive calculated?
Allocations are calculated using Midnight’s official distribution key and adjusted for the actual amount received by etoro from Midnight.
Why is my allocation lower than expected?
The Midnight network applied an institutional ‘haircut’ to platform allocations. etoro can only distribute tokens it actually receives, which may be less than the calculated amount.
Additionally, a revenue-share fee is applied, similar to the fees for staking. The amount deducted depends on your etoro Club tier.
Why did I receive cash instead?
In some regions, crypto token distributions are not allowed. In such cases, your NIGHT allocation will be automatically liquidated and the cash equivalent – based on the average liquidation value – will be credited to your available balance.
Can I trade NIGHT or transfer it to my crypto wallet?
Yes, NIGHT is fully tradeable. However, it is not supported on the etoro crypto wallet and cannot be transferred from the platform.
