Which type of orders does etoro offer?

Last updated: 12 August 2026

etoro offers a variety of order types, whether you're opening or closing a position:

  • Market order: An order to buy or sell an asset when you want the best available price. When you click ‘Open Trade’ or ‘Close Trade’ during market hours, the order is usually filled immediately.
  • Out of hours order: A kind of market order that is set when the market is closed. It is executed as soon as the market opens (or, in the case of extended hours trades, at the next pre-market opening).
  • Limit order: An order to buy or sell an asset at a specific price. A limit order will convert into a market order once the market rate reaches the price you selected.
  • Stop Loss (SL): An instruction to close a trade at a specific rate or amount if the market goes against you.
  • Trailing Stop Loss (TSL): A dynamic version of Stop Loss that moves with the market when your trade is in profit, but does not move back if the price drops.
  • Take Profit (TP): An instruction to close a trade at a specific rate or amount if the market goes in your favour.
