What is 24/5 trading on etoro?

Last updated: 12 August 2026

24/5 trading allows you to buy or sell popular US equities at any time from 4:00 on Monday to 20:00 on Friday Eastern Time (ET).

When the exchanges are closed during this time window, trade execution is made possible via electronic communication networks (ECNs), which automatically match buy and sell orders.

There are no additional etoro charges for 24/5 trading. Commissions for stocks, overnight fees and execution spread for CFDs remain the same. However, market spreads may be wider in the extended hours sessions.

How do I trade 24/5 on etoro?

  1. Look out for equities labelled '24/5'.
  2. Open or close buy or short positions, with or without leverage, just as you normally do.
  3. Track changes to the asset valuation and your profit/loss throughout 24/5 sessions and manage your trades accordingly.

What are the benefits of 24/5 trading?

  • Flexibility to react to pre-market or after-hours news and market events
  • Greater control over risk when markets move overnight

What are the risks of 24/5 trading?

Trading and holding positions outside regular market hours may involve higher risk. These risks apply to all ‘24/5’ designated equities, regardless of whether a position was executed during regular market hours or extended hours. Liquidity tends to be lower, and market spreads tend to be wider, which can lead to increased volatility.

Stop Loss and Take Profit orders can be triggered by sudden movements, and positions opened during regular market hours remain exposed to market conditions outside those hours.

Market Conditions

Generally tighter spreads, higher liquidity, and more stable pricing and execution conditions

Lower liquidity and fewer participants may lead to higher volatility and wider market spreads. Extended hours news can cause sudden price movements. Be sure to check market conditions before placing an order.

Order Execution

Typically predictable and smooth due to higher liquidity and broader market participation

May be impacted by lower liquidity and wider spreads. Higher volatility may cause Stop Loss and Take Profit orders to trigger. Consider adjusting SL/TP levels for 24/5 sessions.

What if I want to trade only during regular market hours?

If you prefer to trade within regular market hours, you can switch off 24/5 Trading in the 'Open Trade' screen of any supported asset.

When deactivated, the trade will be executed only during the main session (09:30–16:00 ET), without exposure to pre-market, after-hours, or overnight price movements.

In your portfolio, this trade’s ticker symbol will end in ‘.RTH’ (for example, TSLA.RTH).
